1. Do I need a new bathroom exhaust fan?
Are you forgetting you need a fan for your bathroom too? Exhaust fans are some of the most important fans you will ever purchase, and this is because they are actually positive for your health. With excess moisture a bathroom will very quickly build up mold, mildew, germs, and many more unhealthy things that you probably do not want to hear about! Plus without a bathroom exhaust fan your bathroom decor will suffer. Paint will peel, tile will stain much easier, and wood will be slowly going to ruin. With an exhaust fan your bathroom will be as fresh and healthy as any other room of your house.
2. How can I tell if my old exhaust fan is still in working condition or not?
If you already have a bathroom exhaust fan you may want to check that it is running correctly. Hold a tissue against the fan and see if it stays against the fan. If it does, this is a good sign! If not, this is the number one warning signal that you need to replace your bathroom exhaust fan as soon as possible!
3. What exactly does an exhaust fan do?
Exhaust fans basically prevent problems before they arise. Mounted to a ceiling, an exhaust fan will send unwanted, stale air up through an exhaust pipe and out of your space! Before moisture has a chance to settle into the cracks, and in between the tiles of your bathroom floor and shower, an exhaust fan will dry it right up. This way scrubbing, cleaning, and wiping up your shower will be less and less of a problem; the water will not even sink into the cracks and steam will be blown away before even having a chance to turn to mold or mildew.
4. Do exhaust fans come with lighting so I can shop for one bathroom appliance?
Yes! Nearly all of our bathroom exhaust fans come with lighting, and some such as the Broan QTX110HL Exhaust Fan even comes with a heating option. Other exhaust fans with lights are the Broan QTXE150FL Exhaust Fan, the Broan 658 Exhaust Fan and Light. It is helpful as well if the same switch will turn on your fan and your light together. This way in case you would otherwise forget about turning on your fan, it will automatically go on when you switch on the light, so your bathroom structure will not be neglected!
5. Do bathroom ceiling exhaust fans have CFM ratings like other fans?
Yes! Exhaust fans work the same way as typical fans and are measured by CFM. It is suggested to allow for about one CFM per square foot of bathroom area. With the correct CFM rating, a bathroom fan will ideally recycle the air every five minutes, refreshing the quality of your space.
For a healthy, cool home, fans are needed throughout a house, so do not let your bathroom go unnoticed. Try one of our highly rated bathroom or window exhaust fans and fight mold and mildew one step at a time, while promoting fresh air!
