Vornado air circulators aren't just ordinary fans, and they do more than just blow air.  Vornado fans actually bend and twist to provide whole-room air circulation using patented Vortex Action that is exclusive to Vornado.  Therefore, with a Vornado air circulator, you won't get drafts or dead spots.  Instead, you'll get even temperature and circulation throughout your room or area.  Below is an overview of the history of Vornado, the technology each unit utilizes, and their benefits:

History of Vornado

Vornado has been the industry leader in fans since the late 1940s, and at that time, Vornado was part of the O.A. Sutton Company. In fact, Vornado fans were so popular that one out of every three fans sold in the United States was a Vornado. Although the O.A. Sutton Company has long since retired, Vornado fans and air circulators continue to be the consumer's choice due to their innovative design and superb performance. Today, Vornado's design, engineering, and manufacturing functions are all performed in-house at their 120,000 square foot headquarters in Kansas, and their main office is also home to the Antique Fan Collector's Museum, which features the most comprehensive collection of air moving devices in the world.

Vornado Fact:
All Vornado air circulators are designed and manufactured in-house at Vornado's Andover, Kansas headquarters so you can be assured of craftsmanship and quality.

About Vornado Air Circulator Technology

Although Vornado manufactures a range of home appliances such as heaters, air purifiers, and humidifiers, the company is best known for their line of air circulators. Unlike typical household portable fans which often lack the aerodynamics to adequately circulate air, Vornado air circulators such as the 530B don't just blow air. Instead, they are highly efficient air moving appliances that make traditional electric fans obsolete. They utilize patented Vortex Technology to provide whole-room air circulation. Therefore, with a Vornado air circulator, you get air circulation and even temperatures without any drafts or dead spots in your home or workplace.

When you turn on a Vornado, its deep-pitched blades take large bites of air and accelerate it through its circulator. The duct around the blade helps direct it forward and keeps this air from slipping off the blade. The AirTensity Grill then functions as a flow-straightener and helps focus the outward stream of air into a tight vortex. This process eventually creates what's called "Whole Room Circulation," where all the air in the room is exited in one steady motion to create continuous air movement in every part of the room. Consequently, this moving air creates additional comfort and more even temperature.

Furthermore, Vornado air circulators are also extremely energy efficient and help you conserve energy year-round when used in conjunction with your existing heating and cooling systems. When placed near a window or AC vent in the summer, cool air is circulated. In turn, this allows you to turn up your thermostat by five degrees and maintain the same comfort level. On the other hand, when wintertime comes around, take advantage of the heat already in the room and direct the Vornado's airflow to the ceiling in order to circulate this warm air back down to occupants.

How Vornado Fans Work

Five Reasons Why You Should Purchase a Vornado Air Circulator:

1. Advanced Technology: Vornado air circulators utilize a combination of aerodynamic elements in order to provide a room-penetrating vortex or "beam" of air. Also referred to as "Vornado Vortex Action," this technology is more efficient than traditional fan technology because it allows air to move long distances both continuously and quietly.

2. Versatile: Unlike ordinary electric fans, Vornado air circulators can be used for more than just cooling. These units afford you a variety of uses including air exchanges between rooms, up the stairs, or down the hall. In fact, Vornado air circulators can also be used as air pumps, and they are excellent at destratifying winter air.

3. Provides Energy Savings: When used in the summer, Vornado air circulators help raise your threshold of discomfort. Thus, if you're comfortable when your thermostat is set at 72° F with no air movement, you'll be able to enjoy the same level of comfort at a higher thermostat setting, such as at 77° F. This five degree increase can result in as much as a 10% savings on your energy bill. In addition, a Vornado air circulator can be used in the winter to force hot air off the ceiling, mix it with cooler air near the floor, and to produce even distribution of heat through an entire room. Again, this prevents wasted heat and results in energy savings.

4. Easy to Maintain: All Vornado air circulators have permanently lubricated motors that require no oiling. The only maintenance a Vornado air circulator will require is periodical cleaning of the motor cap, grill, and blades. This can be accomplished by washing the parts with a mild detergent and wiping them down with a soft cloth.

5. Available in a Range of Sizes: Vornado air circulators come in a variety of sizes and styles to meet your individual needs. Whether you need a compact model such as the 530B (airflow of up to 65 feet) or require an industrial-sized model such as the 738B (airflow of up to 100 feet), Vornado has an air circulator for you.
